Daventry & District

History

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: History group
When: Monthly on Wednesday afternoons 2:00 pm-4:00 pm
4th Wednesday
Venue: Daventry Museum Council Chamber

Group Organiser: Will Philpott

Venue: Daventry Town Council Office, 3 New Street, Daventry, NN11 4BT

When: 4th Wednesday of each month (2.00-4.00p.m (except December)

The group is essentially self-supporting with individual members suggesting topics which they offer to lead on and a programme based on local, national and international history is agreed by the group.

There is no standard format with some members using PowerPoint presentations. A projector is available at the venue but the member delivering the talk will need to bring it have access to a laptop. Other members choose to distribute a handout providing an overview and structure for the discussion. Although talks have been lead by individuals, they could be delivered jointly with another member.

A new idea being considered is shorter talks (30 minutes) whereby instead of a one hour talk, two x half hour talks (either by two separate individuals or one member could deliver both short talks)

Currently we do not have spare seating capacity for additional members but a waiting list has been created although in the spirit of a self-supporting group, preference will be given to those willing to deliver a talk at some point in the future.
